Susan McDougall, our featured artist, trained as a mathematician and programmer. Now retired, Susan balances her scientific side with a love of the natural world. Her artistic side finds expression in art and photography. This avid outdoorswoman finds special subjects of interest in birds, trees, and western landscapes.
“Emblematic” is the best term for what she seeks in her attention to composition; the real center of the scene she is depicting. She works with felt-tip pens, abstracting the complex forms of living trees to present the essence of her subjects.
Susan opens her first exhibit in the Judith McInnes Tozzer Art Gallery at Sequim Museum & Arts, for the March First Friday Art Walk. Her work will be featured through the month of March.
You can schedule appointments with the artist on the first Friday of each month and by request.
