Cemetery Tour: Pioneer Memorial Park (Sequim's First Cemetery)

Friday, October 18

Join the Museum & Arts Center in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley (MAC) for a journey through Sequim's past on a tour of the town’s first cemetery – Pioneer Memorial Park – at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18. The MAC's Cemetery Tour will highlight some of those whose tombstones remain in the park, as well as the storied history of the park itself and the cultural objects residing there, including a Pysht River canoe and Jamestown S'Klallam totem. Sandra Johnson will be on-hand to discuss the totem, which was carved by late Jamestown S'Klallam tribal elder Harris “Brick” Johnson. Admission is $15 and can be paid in advance at the MAC Exhibit Center, 175 W. Cedar St. in Sequim, or at the park on tour day. Pioneer Memorial Park is located at 387 E. Washington St. in Sequim. The MAC's Cemetery Tour is an official Sequim Centennial event. Visit www.macsequim.org or call 360-683-8110 for details.
